Shulman - Pastorale and Two Pair [Gems:GPL237]

This edition of Pastorale and Two Pair for Cello Quartet composed by Alan Shulman is based upon the composer's handwritten manuscript provided as courtesy by Jay Shulman, son of Alan Shulman, and executor of the Shulman estate. These two works are traditionally performed together as a set, however, they certainly can be performed as individual pieces as well. These works were written in 1964, intended as a surprise for a cellists' party. The two pieces received their first public performance at a meeting of the Violoncello Society at the Nippon Club in New York in 1965.
