A Song for Summer [Alf:00-36168]

Dan Coates dedicated this solo to his mother, Mary Anne. Written in a lyrical, flowing style in 4/4 meter, it sounds like a ballad from the Broadway stage. The key of B-flat major gives it a warm, rich sound. Challenges include balance between the melody and accompaniment, wide stretches in the left hand and inner voicing in the right hand.
