recorders.jpgPerformers Music is a classical sheet music store located in the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue. We are the oldest sheet music purveyor in the city. The store was opened on February 14, 1981 by Lee Newcomer, a violist and violinist.  Since then it has grown in size and diversity with a staff of music professionals and students.

We cater to professional performers, teachers, and students of all levels. Our selection of sheet music is mostly classical but we also carry jazz, vocal standards, and showtunes, with a wide variety of method books and studies.

We have a selection of recorders and recorder music as well as musical accessories such as stands, stand lights, reeds, lubricants, strings, and mutes.

The webstore lists a broad selection of that the store stocks and can order for you--not necessarily what is on our shelves at any given moment. Give us a call to see if a particular item is here.  We recommend that you come in to our store on Michigan Avenue to browse through our extensive selection, compare editions, find new surprises, meet old and new friends, and see our Wall of Fame! The Fine Arts Building itself is a historic part of the Chicago Loop, with interesting shops, musicians, artists, craftsmen, a yoga studio, and elevators run by union operators. We hope to see you here soon!

thewall.jpg"For more than thirty years, Performers Music has been the lifeline in my work as a teacher and performer in the Chicago area. They have found all the scores and other resources I need from week to week and have done it quickly and efficiently. They have taken a real and sustained interest in helping me to assist my students to find the materials they need to accomplish their goals. In addition they have been willing and knowledgeable partners in helping me to research and locate hard-to-discover music for my own research and growth as a musician. They have steered me carefully toward the best editions at the most reasonable prices. I really don't know how I would manage without their enthusiastic and efficient support. Performers Music is as much a Chicago treasure as is the Chicago Symphony, The Lyric Opera and the Art Institute."
