Mahler's classic love letter to his soon-to-be-bride Alma appears here in its first arrangement for solo harp. The harp is an essential element of the piece in its normal setting within the Fifth Symphony, and Plank has shown clearly that the rest of the ensemble may, in fact, be irrelevant. Her own performance of the work on YouTube (beautifully recorded) has a duration of just under ten minutes, demonstrating that her arrangement will fit a soloist's program nicely. Oh, the sonority!
