Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643) originally wrote the ARIA CON VARIAZIONE DETTA 'LA FRESCOBALDA' for organ or harpsichord and it was included in the 1627 Toccate e partite d'intavolatura, Libro 2 (No. 32). Following the statement of the melody, the work includes four variations. This arrangement for string orchestra was completed in 1960 by Roberto Caggiano. 8-8-5-5-5 strings included in the set. Reprint edition.
