Claude Debussy (1862-1918) composed the six songs he would in 1903 title ARIETTES OUBLIES (FORGOTTEN SONGS), L. 60/ CD 63, between 1885 and 1887. Each song is a setting of the poetry of Paul Verlaine, a poet doing with words what Debussy trying to do with music. Two of the songs premiered on February 2, 1889, at the Sociİtİ nationale de musique in Paris, Maurice Bag¨s singing with the composer at the piano. Songs: 1. C'est l'extase langoureuse; 2. Il pleure dans mon cĊur; 3. L'ombre des arbres; 4. Chevaux de Bois; 5. Green (Aquarelle); 6. Spleen (Aquarelle).
