In 1928, Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) composed the BOHEMIAN DANISH FOLKSONG, F. 130, to fulfill a commission from Danish Radio in honor of a visit from the Czech conductor Jaroslav Krupka. Unpublished after his death, the work derives its material from a pair of songs, a Czech folk tune and the Danish song Dronning Dagmar. The second song relates the death-bed confession of Queen Dagmar, wife of King Valdemar, in which she divulges her only earthly sin: lacing her sleeves on a Sunday. This Kalmus edition is paraphrased for string orchestra. Instrumentation: String Orchestra (8.8.5.5.5 in set).
