With the publication of Chopin's Rondos, another volume is added to the series The Complete Chopin – A New Critical Edition (Editor-in-chief: John Rink; Series Editors: Jim Samson, Jean-Jacques Eigeldinger & Christophe Grabowski). Frédéric Chopin’s Rondos represent an essential part of the composer’s œuvre, with the Rondo in C Minor Op. 1 marking the beginning of his career as a published composer. This edition includes not only his first published work but also the Rondos Op. 5, Op. 16, and Op. posth. 73 for solo piano. This Urtext edition, edited by David Rowland, is based on Chopin’s autograph manuscripts as well as first editions published in Poland, France, Germany, and England. In addition to a methodological introduction by the Series Editors, the volume features an instructive preface by David Rowland (English, French, and German) and a critical commentary. It also includes illustrations from the first edition of Op. 1 as well as fingering by Polish pianist Karol Mikuli, a student of Chopin. With a total playing time of approximately 37 minutes, this volume is aimed at advanced pianists.
