Johann Stamitz Concerto in B-flat major for clarinet and strings. This is the reduction for clarinet and piano, edited and transcribed by Peter Gradenwitz. This concerto may have been first performed in 1772 in Paris, by Joseph Beer, the first famous clarinet virtuoso in history. The first modern performance of the rediscovered work was given by Frederick Thurston at a London concert in 1936; the first American performance took place in 1951 with Wallace Shapiro and the Little Orchestral Society conducted by Thomas Sherman.
