D­a de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday celebrated in Mexico honoring deceased family members and friends. It is not a time of sadness, but a time of remembrance and celebration. Two folk songs that have been associated with D­a de los Muertos, "El Pajarito Verde"(The Green Bird) and "El Zopilote" (The Buzzard), are the inspiration for the arrangement of this celebratory work.
