Hungarian composer Ede (Eduard) Poldini (1869-1957) was largely known in his home country for his many operas. In the 1890s, Poldini composed a collection of seven pieces for piano under the title MARIONETTES, IEP 17, the most popular of which is the 2nd movement, La Poupİe Valsante (The Dancing Doll), with its fleet, graceful introductory melody. This transcription for violin by Fritz Kreisler is what made Poldini internationally famous.
