Hungarian composer Ede (Eduard) Poldini (1869-1957) was largely known in his home country for his many operas. In the 1890s, Poldini composed a collection of seven pieces for piano under the title MARIONETTES, IEP 17, the most popular of which is the 2nd movement, La Poupİe Valsante (The Dancing Doll), with its fleet, graceful introductory melody. This transcription for violin by Fritz Kreisler is what made Poldini internationally famous.
