This piece was inspired by Sanita Reinsone's book MeĊa meitas (Forest Girls), based on real stories from the lives of women partisans at the end of World War II and for several years after. The composition uses text from the Latvian folksong "Div' dujinas gaisa skreja" (Two doves are flying) and poetry written by the partisan or "meĊa meita" Lidija Kalcenava while she was still in the forest.
