Gabriel Faurİ (1845-1924) wrote the Dolly Suite, Op. 56, originally as a collection of six pieces for piano duet. Each short work marked the birthday or other event in the life of the daughter of Emma Bardac, the composer's mistress. In 1906, composer Henri Rabaud scored the suite for orchestra, and this version also has gained popularity, still commonly finding its way onto the concert hall stage. Movements: 1. Berceuse, 2. Mi-a-ou, 3. Jardin de Dolly, 4. Kitty Valse, 5. Tendresse, 6. Pas Espagnol. Instrumentation: 2(2ndd1).2.2.2: 4.2.3.0: Timp.Perc(3-4): Hp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set).
