DREI MILITARMARSCHEN (THREE MARCHES MILITAIRES), Op. 51, D. 733, were originally written for piano four-hands by Franz Schubert (1797 - 1828) during his stay at Count Johann Karl EsterhĦzy's summer home in Zseliz, Hungary. Schubert composed these works as instructional pieces for the Count's daughters. Marche Militaire No. 1 is the most famous of the three. Theodore M. Tobani arranged Nos. 1 & 2 for small orchestra, with revisions completed by Julius Seredy. Instrumentation: 1.1.2.1: 2.2.1.0: Timp.Perc(2-3): Str (9.8.7.6.5 in set).
