Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) wrote the original orchestral version of GOVERNOR BRADFORD MARCH in 1948 to honor Robert Fiske Bradford, who served as Governor of Massachusetts (1947-1949). While the work premiered on June 3, 1948, by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra, it remained unpublished until after Anderson's death, at which point the BSO gave the original score to the composer's family. Instrumentation: 2+Picc.2.2.2: 4.3.3.1: Perc(2-3): Pno(opt): Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set).
