Harris' Music for Solo Celloexploits scordatura to create rich, resonant new chordal possibilities on the instrument. The central presto is an exciting display of virtuoso pizzicato technique, which incorporates accented rhythms, strumming and double-stops. The scordatura tuning produces an augmented sixth chord from the open strings, the resonance of which dominates the sound of the work.
