True to its name, this solo provides the opportunity for students to master the art of playing freely with rubato. Beginning slowly in D minor, the first part of the fantasy changes tempo several times, leading to a lively second section written in F minor and 2/4 meter. The third and final section begins slowly and builds to an exciting finish, making this piece the perfect choice for recitals or contests.
