Janáček composed this famous fanfare for antiphonal brass choirs and timpani to herald an outdoor gymnastics festival. Full of open fifth “power chords” in the low parts, Dorff’s exhilarating transcription is scored for 7 B-flat Clarinets and 2 Bass Clarinets, with optional parts for Alto, Contralto, and Contrabass Clarinets. Effective with one player per part, the arrangement is even more exuberant with larger ensembles. Also available separately for Low Clarinet Choir.
