EINE NACHT IN VENEDIG (A NIGHT IN VENICE) is an three-act operetta by Johann Strauss II (1825-1899). The libretto was written by F. Zell and Richard Genİe, based on the story Le Ch˘teau Trompette by Genİe and Eug¨ne Cormon. The work premiered on October 3, 1883 at the Neues Friedrich Wilhelmst¤dtisches Theater in Berlin. The overture establishes the sparkling, Viennese locale in which the romantic farce about mistaken identity is set.
