Opening with a vivid splash of sound and building to a frenzy, this composition mixes rhythmic energy with contemporary melodic passages. There is a majestic call at the opening that leads to an energetic introductory section. A singing theme emerges, always accompanied by urgent figurations that strive to move forward. A new theme is played in an espressivo fashion by the brass choir and suddenly a brief recollection occurs of the introduction and all its former energies. The opening call is restated in a heroic style, now more thoroughly developed, and evolves into an all encompassing grandioso-finale and coda. (6:00)
