The Bills [CF:110-40746]

As a pianist in his early teens, Carter Pann was excitedly drawn to Joplin rags, performing them as standard repertoire alongside Chopin and Bach. As an undergraduate composition student, Pann’s teachers included William Albright and William Bolcom, both great purveyors of the modern piano rag. THE BILLS is a pair of rags inspired by Joplin and by Pann’s professors — a slow elegant x7f first movement titled “William Albright,” followed by a devil-may-care romp titled “William Bolcom.”
