Thalhaimer notes that Fratres, when completed in 1977, was scored for three parts without instrumentation. This has led to a number of arrangements since, and now this new version for recorder trio with percussion and a string instrument. To accomplish this task, Thalhaimer uses a trio of alternating recorders (1. Soprano/Bass; 2. Treble/Great Bass; 3.
