James Dillon's Pharmakeia is a 52-minute cycle in four parts which casts spells of sorcery and ritual. First performed by London Sinfonietta on 22 November 2020 as part of Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, it was commissioned by London Sinfonietta and Ensemble Intercontemporain with support from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The third movement, Circe, was originally commissioned by Ensemble Musikfabrik and Kunststiftung NRW.
