Pizzicati [Alf:36-M804901]

Delibes' music for the ballet Sylvia was often considered more interesting than the ballet itself. It was far ahead of its time in terms of instrumentation (making much use of the newly invented saxophone). The scherzettino known as Pizzicati is an excellent example of how Delibes dictated action, as you can almost hear a story unfold as the music plays.
