In 1843, Frİdİric Chopin (1810-1849) composed the well-loved and technically challenging POLONAISE in A-flat Major, Op. 53. Its subtitle "Heroic" has its origin in a letter by George Sand in which she declared that the spirit evidenced in the work was the same as that of the French Revolution. The Polish-American pianist Arthur Rubinstein glowingly referred to it as the composition that was nearest to his heart. Reprint of this Karl Mĵller-Berghaus edition.
