Rachmaninoff's set of ten Prİludes Op. 23 was composed in 1901 to 1902 and includes some of the most dazzling late Romantic music for the piano such as the famous Prelude in G minor. The C sharp minor Prİlude Op. 3 No. 2 also included here was the first work Rachmaninoff composed as a "free artist" upon graduation from the Moscow Conservatory aged 19. It has become one of the most famous of all works for the piano.
