Following a discussion with President Chester A. Arthur, John Philip Sousa composed PRESIDENTIAL POLONAISE to replace the presidential song "Hail to the Chief", which, being a Scottish boating song, was determined to be unsuitable. The work was subsequently performed for official events at the White House. This version for concert band has been edited by Carl Simpson.
