Left incomplete at the time of his death, DOKTOR FAUST occupied Ferruccio Busoni (1866-1924) between the years 1916 and 1924. He had intended it to be his masterpiece. A completed version was constructed by Philipp Jarnach for the first performance of the opera at the S¤chsisches Staatstheater in Dresden on May 21, 1925 under the direction of Fritz Busch.
