The Seven Good-Humored Variations from Opus 51 are based on a Ukrainian folk tune. Written in 1952, the variations featured in this edition are fourth in the set of Opus 51 variations. The attractive G Major theme is presented with an easy open fifth accompaniment. Each variation expands on both the accompaniment and the harmony using octave jumps, broken chords, full triads, accented chords, a minor key variation, short scales passages, and forceful driving rhythms. Impeccably edited for performance by Guy Maier. A great recital selection.
