Though less-often heard than other later works by this composer, Darius Milhaud's (1892-1974) three-movement SONATA No. 1, Op. 33 offers a look at the composer at his most robust and muscular, although the more gentle sound of contemporary Parisian composers such as Satie, Faurİ, and Ravel remain audible in this early work.
