Arthur Honegger died in Paris on November 27, 1955. This prompted Karl Höller, who participated in the funeral service, to rearrange his 5th Sonata in C op. 39 for violin and piano, composed in 1946/47, and to dedicate it to the memory of this Swiss composer he so highly respected.
