Erich Anders was the pseudonym of Baron Erich Wolff von Gutenberg. He was born in Teutschental near Halle on April 29, 1883. Erich Anders' beautiful-sounding and entertaining works reveal the musical influence of Richard Strauss and impressionism. The catalogue of his works is impressive. The main body of his works consists of the minor forms of orchestral programme music and songs. The "Flöten-Lieder" (Flute songs) op.109 were composed in 1946 and first performed in Hamburg in the same year. Apart from the established fact that the fourth song is a setting of the well-known "Abendständchen" (evening serenade) by Clemens Brentano, no further information has been unearthed concerning the other texts.
