FrantiĊĦek Alois Drdla (1868-1944), commonly called by the Germanized spelling Franz Drdla, is best remembered as a prominent Czech violinist and composer of light music. His most well-known work, Souvenir for violin and piano, was written in 1904. German composer of popular music and musical prodigy Theodore Moses Tobani (under the name Adolphe Dumont, one of many pseudonyms insisted upon by his publisher as they thought the public would not believe one composer could be so prolific) arranged the work for solo violin and orchestra in 1913. Instrumentation: 1.1.2.1: 2.2.1.0: Timp: Solo Vn: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set).
