Jazz great Sonny Rollins penned this classic as a Latin-calypso, but arranger Mike Lewis starts off with a two feel, then goes into a swing four which gives St. Thomas a totally fresh sound. Mike offers a short duet for trumpet and tenor that builds into an ensemble section with some hip chord changes. No individual solos in this one, but all the sections will get some action in this chart as the energy keeps flowing. This is a great chart delivering a well-known jazz standard with modest brass ranges ideal for any high school jazz ensemble -- a win-win choice.
