One of the composer's finest works, composed in the late 1870s, but not performed until April of 1894. Featuring strikingly original harmonies, an extended structure and tonal range, this staple of the orchestral repertoire, like Bruckner's 8 other symphonies, is a landmark of the Austro-Germanic symphonic tradition.
