The Universal Judgment [Alf:81-BB974]

This is a huge work arranged for brass band. The original was scored for a concert band with antiphonal trumpet fanfares and a massive sound. This same grand concept has been written into this version. Melody is found throughout the ensemble and all parts are both technically and musically challenging. This is an 11 minute work that contains huge dynamic contrasts and varying sections. The beautiful lyric melody has been given to the euphonium and this section also contains light, cup-muted cornet parts imitating the sound of angels. This is contrasted by a section of brilliant military-style fanfares from the cornets. This is a thrill to both play and listen to.
