Written as a tribute to a high school band director killed in a car accident three months after starting his first teaching job, this work is sensitive without being maudlin. A great combination of clear, lyrical melodies, chorale-like passages, and softly urging rhythms. It is a piece that reflects gentleness with a feeling of strength and spirit.
