Martha Mier creates a peaceful mood by using a syncopated pedal and a moderate tempo in this solo. It is written in G major and is an excellent study of left hand fifths and sixths. The left hand generally has blocked intervals or single notes, giving the student the opportunity to concentrate on making the right hand melody expressive.
