Born just outside of Chicago, Richard E. Maltby Sr. served as a trumpeter, conductor, arranger, and bandleader over his long career, which included working with or arranging for such artists as Paul Whiteman, Benny Goodman, Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughan, Johnnie Ray, Vic Damone, Ethel Merman, and Lawrence Welk. His TRUMPET NOCTURNE: A BALLAD FOR TRUMPET is a beautiful, lyrical work.
