VALSES NOBLES ET SENTIMENTALES is one of several works by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) which reflect his fascination with the infectious simplicity of the waltz. Using Franz Schubert's collections of waltzes as a starting point, he completed the original version for piano in 1911. Louis Aubert gave the first performance on May 9, 1911, at the Salle Gaveau in Paris. The following year, Ravel orchestrated a version for ballet, titled ADLADE, OU LE LANGAGE DES FLEURS, which premiered on April 22 at the Thİatre du Chatelet to a scenario devised by the composer himself.
