Adapted from Mozart's "Musical Joke, " K.522. The imitative, birdsong passages, according to Luis Baptista, "mimic the starling's natural propensity to intertwine whistled tunes . . . and their tendency to whistle 'off-key.'" Originally written for six instruments, the musical fun may now be shared by six hands at the piano keyboard.
