This edition is an arrangement of the original version for symphonic wind band and choir, it sounds just as well as an orchestral piece as with additional choir or public, singing along. The work can be performed with the following instrumentation: - Minimum orchestra a): strings + woodwinds (fl., ob., clar.) + organ - Minimum orchestra b): strings + fl. + organ - Minimum orchestra c): strings + organ (with an alternative, extended organ part) - Brass and percussion are optional (if used, the organ can be omitted) Furthermore, the work is flexible in length and can be adjusted i.ex. by omitting single verses or carols.
