This song, a setting of The Taxi by Amy Lowell, was commissioned for York Late Music's 100 Second Songs project and first performed by Anna Snow, soprano, and Kate Ledger, piano, on 4 April 2020. A glimpse of the never-sleeping city takes on a sense of longing and loneliness when viewed by our protagonist from the window of their speeding taxi in the streets of the night.
