The six programmatic movements in this suite depict the characters of early European pantomime, popular in America in the late 19th century: Promenade * Columbine * Pantalon * Pierrot and Pierrette * Secrets * Harlequin. Composed by American composer Amy Beach who had small hands, this suite is very effective for the early intermediate student.
