Noël, the French word for “Christmas”, has been used to identify a genre of organ works for the Christmas Season since the time of the French Baroque Period. Noëls (carols and shepherd songs) provided organists with the opportunity to improvise variations on recognizable tunes in and out of worship during the Christmas Season. This collection provides a critical and practical edition of selected works.
