Franz Ignaz Danzi was born in Schwetzingen on June 15, 1763. His career spanned the transition from the late Classical to the early Romantic Periods. He knew and revered Mozart, was a contemporary of Beethoven, and was also a mentor of the young Carl Maria von Weber. He worked in Mannheim, Munich, Stuttgart, and Karlsruhe, where he died on April 13, 1826.
