Divided into three movements, this work explores and celebrates youthful experiences. The first movement, "Student Song," comes from "Carmina Burana" and warns that "Life passes swiftly away when absorbed in study; tender youth is a time to be merry." The second song, "Love Song," from the 11th C. Cambridge Songs, celebrates spring and its poignant beauty "While I see all this..I am possessed..by sighs in midst of all this rejoicing." The final movement is a drinking song from the 12th century. It is ideally suited for a men's chorus concert performance.
