These duets are easy and uncomplicated pieces by an 18th century composer who is hardly known today. The duets, presented here in a new edition for the first time, are arrangements of a sonata originally composed for two flutes and bass made by an unknown arranger. It is highly unlikely that Lapis authorized this version although he need not have been ashamed since its quality implies the work of an expert musician. Lapis was born around the first decade of the 18th century, and the extremely sparse traces about his life completely vanish in England in 1765. The duets are well-suited for music schools.
