Score format (one copy provided). Johannes Matthias Sperger was born on March 23rd, 1750, in Feldsburg (then part of Lower Austria). He was prominent as both composer and contrabassist, and composed more than 44 symphonies, numerous concerti (including 18 for contrabass!), sonatas, cantatas, dances, choral works, and songs. Sperger died on May 13th, 1812, in Schwerin (Germany).
This little duet would make a nice introduction to the more complicated material in Mozart's flute duets.--Flutist Quarterly (Spring 2010).
