Urtext.
Fantasie on Meyerbeer's opera L'Africaine fo for flute and orchestra (edition for flute and piano). Based on source materials in the British Library (London) and the Bibliotheque Nationale (Paris).
Francois Borne is believed to have lived from 1840 until 1920. He is often confused with the composer and music critic Fernand Le Borne. Borne published five compositions, and in conjunction with the flute maker Djalma Julliot he also published a treatise on the construction of flutes. 'Similar to the 'Carmen Fantasie' in structure, Borne's work might be a popular flute repertoire favorite if the original opera tunes were better known today.' (Flute Talk, February 2007).
